Love Brookdale Family Campground!
Below
are some fun games to play while camping at Brookdale!
We
hope you'll have fun too!
Quackers
is Brookdale's
Mallard Mascot!
Marco Polo
Game is to be played in a swimming
pool.
Object of the Game: Not to get
caught by "Marco" (the person who is "it")
Rules: One person is chosen to be
"it" he/she closes his/her eyes and gets on one end of the
swimming pool. He/she counts to 10 and shouts "Marco" and all
the others in the pool shout "Polo". The one that shouts
"Marco" has to try and catch one of the persons who shouts
"Polo". It can be shouted as much as possible. Once he/she
catches a person, then that person is now "it" and so on.....
You always had to answer every
"marco" with "polo". If "marco", or the
person who is "it", notices you didn't answer, he says your
name. If a majority of the players agree, then the person who didn't
answer is it. The only exception is if the person who didn't answer was
underwater at the time.
Flashlight Tag
Played at night, this game mixes
the popular games, hide and seek with tag. The person who is
"it" waits at the "jail" counting to a high number
while everyone else hides. Then, armed with a flashlight, this person
searches for the others who may be switching hiding spots. The flashlight
must remain on at all times and may not be covered. When "it "
spots someone, she/he must use the flashlight to get a close enough look
at the person to identify him/her and call out his/her name.
What happens when a person gets
caught, gives rise to variations of this exciting game. One variation is
to pass the flashlight to the caught person, so she/he becomes
"it." Another version is to send each caught person to
"jail" to wait until everyone is caught. The first person caught
then becomes "it." Another variation is to have more than one
person (or a team) be "it." With this configuration, people who
are not "it" can tag other people (or team members) free from
"jail." One of the "its" may stay near to guard the
"jail."
Players will find new and interesting ways
to improve their play. One such strategy is to watch where "it(s)"
have already searched, and then switch to that hiding spot. One might also
find success by following "it(s)." For added challenge, players
may camouflage themselves with dark clothing.
Monster
Bubbles
Combine 6 cups of
water, 2 cups dishwashing liquid (Joy, Ivory, etc.) and 3/4 cup corn syrup
in a bowl. Mix up the solution and let sit for about 4 hours. Pour into a
shallow pan. Bend a wire coat hanger into a big circle (this will require
an adult for supervision) and then wrap the handle with tape or put it
into a paper towel roll so you don't get scratched. A 6" circle wand
will make a bubble as big as a watermelon. Keep the solution away from
lawn chairs or anything else that might get ruined if it gets wet.
